Hi, my name is Lewis Crosbie. Before I tell you a bit more about myself, welcome to Elevate Sports Rehab!
My biggest passion is sports and fitness. The opportunity to turn my passion into a career was a no brainer. This led me to complete a BSc Sport Rehabilitation and Conditioning degree at the University of Northampton, where I graduated in 2024 with a first class degree.
Throughout my degree I gained valuable experience with Northampton Town FC, PGMOL referees, and the student led Sports Injury & Rehabilitation Clinic to name a few. To date, I am fortunate enough to be able to work at Brackley Town FC within the first team as a sports rehabilitator, enabling me to work with a variety of sporting injuries and conditions. I am also currently studying a MSc Physiotherapy degree to further my knowledge and expertise.
As a sports rehabilitator, I specialise in the treatment of any musculoskeletal pain, conditions, and injuries, as well as a range of neural issues. I also have extensive knowledge of strength and conditioning, allowing me to provide personalised exercise plans to help improve anyone’s physical capabilities whether that be someone just getting into fitness, or an experienced athlete.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any queries or concerns.
When you book an injury assessment appointment, we have a four-step process outlined below to give you an idea of what your injury is and what could be causing it. With every injury rehabilitation appointment, we will also provide you with hands-on treatment during the session to reduce your symptoms, and a bespoke exercise plan to aid your rehabilitation. We require 60 minutes for your first appointment to allow time for assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Beyond this shorter or longer appointments can be booked as you see fit.
The first thing we will do is sit down and talk about your injury. This step is crucial for us to gain valuable insight into your issue or any concerns you might have. It will also give us a really good idea of what could be going on, before we get hands-on to confirm the issue.
We will then get hands-on and assess the affected area in more detail. This will involve range of motion and strength assessments. We might also use some additional tests to conclude our assessment and insure we are correct with our diagnosis.
Injuries to structures in the body generally come with several symptoms, whether that be pain, reduced range of motion, loss of sensation, and many more. During the appointment, we will provide some manual therapy treatments to hopefully provide some short-term relief. Click here to find out more about various techniques we might use.
At Elevate Sports Rehab, we believe that exercise is medicine! That's why you will be provided with a personalised exercise rehabilitation plan to complete until you decide to book another appointment to re assess. Every exercise will be tailored towards your injury to help optimise your recovery and improve your symptoms.
Playing sports, exercising, or general day-to-day life can cause tension, tightness, aches, and pains in our body. A sports massage is a great way to target these areas of the body, and achieve a number of benefits including:
Reduced muscle tension allowing an increase in flexibility and range of motion
Improved circulation and localised blood flow to the muscles to enhance recovery
Increased drainage of waste products out of the muscles
It is also an extremely useful tool to use in injury rehabilitation to accelerate the healing process, and break down scar tissue or restricted tissues alongside your personalised exercise rehabilitation plan.
All of our manual therapy treatments we have to offer are outlined below!
Our sports massages utilise multiple massage techniques and modalities to provide deep manipulation of the muscle tissue. This is perfect for anyone who exercises regularly, to ensure any aches, pains, tension, or tightness are removed to optimise your recovery in between sessions.
We also cater to anyone who would prefer a more relaxing Swedish massage to help relieve any stresses of daily life. We will utilise softer massage techniques to help you unwind and relax throughout the treatment.
Percussive therapy provides mechanical vibrations of the muscle tissue at a rate that cannot be achieved through regular massage techniques. These vibrations cause an increase in blood flow to the muscles, leading to improved range of motion, reduced muscle soreness and stimulation of the healing process.
Therapeutic ultrasound uses sound waves generated in the head of the device, which penertrate into the tissue, and creates mechanical vibrations. This causes a thermal effect which increases blood flow and heat within the area. In addition, this can help breakdown scar tissue, and enhance the body's cellular repair processes.
Taping is used to increase joint stability, restrict certain movements within the injured joint, and provide soft tissue compression to reduce swelling and inflammation. We use several tapes including elastic adhesive bandage, zinc oxide, and K-tape to achieve these effects.
Lack of range of motion/flexibility is not always muscular. Sometimes the joint capsule itself has some restriction, generally following an injury or developed over a period of time. Joint mobilisation techniques are a great way to increase the range of motion, reduce pain, and improve joint function.
